Privacy Policy — The House Keeper

The House Keeper ("we") is operated by Cutten Advisers. We built this app to help you employ someone in your home fairly and simply — and we apply the same care to your information. This policy explains what we store, what we deliberately don't, and what happens to it over time.
What we store about you
- Your email address and sign-in credentials, and your subscription status.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers.
- Basic usage statistics we gather ourselves (which screens are used, sign-ups). We use no advertising trackers.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information — anyone's, ever.
What you store about your employee
The app holds the employment records you create: your employee's name as you choose to enter it, pay rates, hours worked, payments made, and leave taken.
We deliberately do not collect your employee's ID number, home address, phone number, or emergency contacts. Where a printed document needs those details — such as an employment contract — it includes labelled blank lines for you to fill in by hand, so they never pass through our servers.
Your role and ours
Under South African privacy law (POPIA), you are the "responsible party" for your employee's records, and we process them on your behalf and on your instructions, as an "operator." In plain terms: it's your data. We store and process it only to provide the app's features, and for nothing else.
Who helps us run the service
We use a small number of service providers, such as Supabase (database hosting), Stripe (payments), Kit (our email newsletter), and Resend (service emails such as receipts and reminders). Some of these providers store data outside South Africa; each is bound by a data-processing agreement.
How long we keep your records

You can download everything the app holds at any time: Profile → "Download my data (Excel)". You can also delete your account at any time, which removes your records from our systems. Copies may persist in routine backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
Your rights
You may ask us at any time for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. Write to help@thehousekeeperapp.com. If you're not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it here and update the date above.
